Baby Stores in Lebanon: Essentials for New Parents

Outfitting a baby in Lebanon is straightforward once you know which categories matter most and where to shop. Mid-range and premium European/American brands dominate (Cybex, Maxi-Cosi, Bébé Confort, Stokke, Joie); local pharmacies handle formula and diapers; clothing and toys spread across baby specialty stores and supermarket chains.

The big-ticket essentials

  • Car seat: non-negotiable from day one. ECE R129 i-Size is the current European standard; verify the seat is approved for your child's weight/height band and your car has appropriate anchors (ISOFIX or seatbelt path).
  • Stroller: consider Lebanon's terrain — uneven sidewalks, stairs, and narrow elevators. A maneuverable mid-range stroller serves better than a heavy pram. Travel systems that combine car seat and stroller frame save money.
  • Crib and mattress: firm mattress, breathable, fits snugly to crib sides. No bumpers, no loose bedding for under-1s.
  • Baby monitor: audio-only suffices for most homes; video monitors give peace of mind.

Recurring purchases

  • Diapers: Pampers, Huggies, Sanita widely stocked at pharmacies and supermarkets; subscription/bulk savings exist online.
  • Formula: sold at pharmacies. Consult the pediatrician for the right stage and brand.
  • Wipes, creams, bath products: stick with hypoallergenic, fragrance-free options for the first year.

What to skip

Cute "convenience" gadgets that get used twice. Excessive newborn outfits — they outgrow sizes in weeks. Wipe warmers, bottle sterilizers (a clean kettle and bottle brush work), and most "registry must-haves" marketed online.

Used and hand-me-down

Many Lebanese parents pass on baby gear in good condition through neighborhood groups and family. Safe to inherit: clothing, books, toys. Replace for safety: car seats (never use a seat in an accident or past expiration), helmets, mattresses.
