Building Materials in Lebanon: Cement, Blocks, Rebar, and Aggregates

Lebanon has long-established cement plants, block factories, and rebar imports. Construction material suppliers are essentially the logistics layer — receiving from producers, stocking on yards, and delivering to sites.

Core materials

  • Cement: Portland CEM I, II in 50 kg bags or bulk silo. Specify strength class (42.5N).
  • Blocks: hollow concrete 10/15/20 cm; insulation blocks for external walls.
  • Sand and gravel: washed for concrete, coarse for screeds.
  • Rebar (steel): Y10–Y32 corrugated; specify yield strength (BS 4449 B500B).
  • Ready-mix concrete: delivered by truck, batched to spec (C25, C30, C40).

Quality checks

  • Cement bags must be sealed and within shelf life (3 months from production).
  • Rebar should carry mill certificate; spot tests confirm yield strength.
  • Aggregates should be clean — no silt or organic matter.
  • Ready-mix delivery tickets must match the order's strength class and time.

Pricing and delivery

  • Most pricing is in USD due to commodity nature.
  • Delivery within Beirut included; outside cities charged per truck.
  • Volume discounts for site contracts over 6 months.
  • Cash-on-delivery dominant; opening account requires credit history.
