The Lebanese generator industry is a parallel grid. Until 2026 the neighborhood subscription model dominated, with rates set by the Ministry of Energy and fuel pass-through. Solar+battery hybrids have rapidly displaced pure diesel where roof space allows.

- 5A, 10A, 15A, 20A subscriptions priced by amperage.
- Government tariff with monthly fuel adjustment.
- Pollution and noise complaints filed at the municipality.
- 2024 reform: filters and meters mandated; many operators now metering kWh.
Solar Transition
- Average villa: 8 kWp solar + 10 kWh battery covers most daytime needs.
- Payback 3-5 years at typical generator + EDL pricing.
- Net metering rolled out — sell surplus back when EDL is on.
