Glass and Mirror Companies in Lebanon: Shopfronts, Shower Screens, and Art
AdvisorLB Team
Glass in a Lebanese building is more than a window. It's a security feature, an energy efficiency layer, and increasingly a design statement. Local glass companies in Beirut's Sin El Fil, Bauchrieh, and Sidon's industrial zones offer cut-to-size, lamination, tempering, and installation.
Glass types
- Float (annealed): standard, breaks into sharp shards — never use for shower screens.
- Tempered (toughened): 4–5x stronger, shatters into small chunks. Mandatory for doors, low windows, shower.
- Laminated: two glass layers + PVB film — holds together when broken, good for skylights and security.
- Double-glazed (insulated): two panes with argon — best for sound and thermal insulation.
- Low-E: coated to block heat — reduces AC load in coastal Lebanon.
Common applications
- Shopfronts (tempered or laminated, sliding or fixed).
- Shower enclosures (always tempered, with proper hardware).
- Office partitions (double-glazed for sound).
- Skylights (always laminated for falling-glass safety).
- Mirrors (silvered, bronzed, antiqued — increasingly used in restaurants).
Pricing factors
- Thickness (4, 6, 8, 10, 12 mm).
- Edge work (polished, bevelled, mitred).
- Holes and cut-outs for hardware.
- Logistics (high-rise lifts, hand-carry up stairs).
Buying tips
- Ask for the manufacturer's tempering stamp on every tempered piece.
- Verify thickness with a caliper — substitution happens.
- Get warranty for stress cracks on tempered glass (3–5 years industry norm).
- Use stainless steel hardware in coastal humidity.
