Hookah Shops in Lebanon: Tobacco Flavors, Accessories, and Setup
AdvisorLB Team
Hookah (narghile / arguileh) is part of Lebanese social life, smoked at cafés, on balconies, and in dedicated lounges. Shops sell tobacco (mu'assel), shisha pipes, charcoal, foils, hoses, and replacement parts. Many also serve as small repair workshops.
Tobacco categories
- Blonde tobacco: lighter nicotine, flavour-forward — most popular for beginners.
- Dark tobacco: stronger, less sweet, for experienced smokers.
- Premium / cured: aged tobacco with complex notes.
- Steam stones / herbal: nicotine-free alternatives.
Accessories to know
- Bowl/head: clay (classic), Egyptian phunnel, silicone for heat distribution.
- Heat management device (HMD): metal cap that holds charcoal away from tobacco.
- Charcoal: natural coconut coals are cleaner than quick-light cubes.
- Hose: washable silicone preferred over traditional leather for hygiene.
Setup tips
- Pack tobacco loosely — about 2 mm below the rim.
- Use a single foil layer with many pinholes or an HMD.
- Wait 1–2 minutes after placing charcoal before smoking.
- Clean the pipe with lemon and salt regularly to remove residue.
