Rehabilitation Centers in Lebanon: Physio, Stroke, and Orthopedic Recovery

Rehabilitation is not just physiotherapy. A comprehensive rehab center integrates physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, neuropsychology, and prosthetics under one roof, coordinated by a physiatrist (PMR specialist).

Types of Programs

  • Inpatient (3-8 weeks): for severe stroke, spinal cord injury, major trauma. Daily 3-5h therapy.
  • Outpatient day program: 3-5x/week, 2-3h per session.
  • Home-based: therapist visits — slower progress but lower cost and family support.
  • Sports rehab: ACL post-op, rotator cuff, return-to-play protocols.

What to Ask Before Admission

  • Patient-to-therapist ratio (1:1 ideal; 1:3 is the maximum).
  • Equipment: parallel bars, treadmill with harness, electrical stimulation, hydrotherapy pool?
  • Family training before discharge — transfers, exercises, home setup.
  • Written goals reviewed every 2 weeks.

Costs (Indicative, USD)

  • Outpatient PT session: $25-50.
  • Day program (full day, 5 days): $400-700/week.
  • Inpatient rehab: $200-450/day all-inclusive.

Red Flags

  • No physiatrist on staff — center is just a glorified gym.
  • Same generic exercise plan for every patient.
  • No documented progress tracking (range of motion, strength grades).
  • Pressuring family to extend stay beyond clinical need.
