Shooting Ranges in Lebanon: Safety, Disciplines, and Legal Basics
AdvisorLB Team
Sport shooting in Lebanon is regulated by the Internal Security Forces and the Ministry of Interior. Licensed ranges are concentrated in Mount Lebanon, with both outdoor and indoor lanes. Anyone using a firearm must hold a valid permit or shoot under the range's club licence.
Disciplines available
- Pistol: 9 mm and .22 LR on 25 m lanes — the most popular discipline.
- Rifle: .22 LR, .223, and full-size rifles on 50–100 m lanes.
- Shotgun: clay pigeon (skeet and trap) at outdoor sites.
- IPSC / IDPA: practical shooting events at registered clubs.
Safety expectations
- Eye and ear protection mandatory — most ranges rent both.
- Range officer's commands are absolute: "load," "cease fire," "holster."
- Muzzle awareness: always pointed down-range.
- Finger off the trigger until on target and ready.
Legal basics
- Personal handgun permits require background checks and renewals.
- Imported ammunition must be declared at customs.
- Some ranges offer beginner permits-supervised sessions for non-licensed shooters.
- Always carry ID and permit to the range.
